This is an unfinished wood cutout of the ASL handshape for the letter X — the hooked index finger sign used in American Sign Language. It's a solid silhouette with engraved detail lines showing finger definition, cut from 1/8" cabinet grade baltic birch in our Minnesota shop.
Folks use these for ASL classroom displays, educational bulletin boards, and sign language learning materials. We've seen them turn into gift tags and ornaments for Deaf community events, pieces in ASL-themed gift sets, and decorative accents for speech-language therapy spaces. They also work as individual pieces in full alphabet sets — handy for spelling out names or words in ASL handshapes on a wall or in a wreath.
Made to order, ready for paint, stain, or leaving the natural wood showing. Available 1" and up — or customize sizes or pick from available modifications in our Concept Studio. Most simple modifications are at no additional cost.
