This is an unfinished baltic birch Maryland state cutout, cut with the Chesapeake Bay waterways as interior negative space — so the shape reads as the real thing, water and all. It works as a standalone wall piece, a sign blank, or a base for painted and personalized Maryland-themed projects.
Folks use these for state pride wall art, home decor that anchors a Maryland connection, and personalized gifts for people who've moved away. We've also seen them turn into wedding welcome signs, nursery name displays paired with city or county text, tiered tray accents, and craft fair booth pieces painted up with crabs, Old Bay, and the Bay Bridge.

These were beautiful little wooden cut outs of VA, MD and WV. The detail was amazing (MD and WV are interestingly shaped stated). I used them to make a Christmas ornament documenting our 20th wedding anniversary trip during the summer of 2020.
